arjeeling is a town in India’s West Bengal state, in the Himalayan foothills. Once a summer resort for the British Raj elite, it remains the terminus of the narrow-gauge Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, or “Toy Train,” completed in 1881. It’s famed for the distinctive black tea grown on plantations that dot its surrounding slopes. Its backdrop is Mt. Kanchenjunga, among the world’s highest peaks.

Darjeeling Climate

Summer

Summer, from April till June, remains hot enough with the average high °C. However, the city receives a moderate level of rainfall that makes the climate more enjoyable. April gets more than 100mm of precipitation. It is one of the best seasons to visit Darjeeling.

winter

Winter, from December till January, remains very much cool in Darjeeling. The temperature drops down dramatically and forces even the natives to migrate to safer places. Tourists who dare the weather during this season have to be really strong. Although Snow is rare, there are chances of landslides affecting your visit. January, the coldest month of the year, sees only 8°C of average high.

monsoon

From July till August Darjeeling goes through a monsoon season. July is the rainiest month of the year with more than 790mm of precipitation. During this season the average high stands at high teens while the minimums fluctuate between 14-15°C.
